Challenge Training Band was established in 2016 as a group for new and returning players of all ages. Our mission is to make music accessible, inclusive and fun.
The band exists in its own right as an ensemble that meets weekly and occasionally performs in public. Players will sometimes graduate from the training band to the senior band, but there is no expectation that this must happen.
The band focuses on the basics of brass playing and it performs a varied range of music, that is often tailored to meet the needs of the individual players.
We aim to create a friendly and nurturing environment where people are encouraged to "give it a go".
The band is led by Andrew Kirkland, who plays Cornet in the senior band. There is also a small team of senior band players who come along to rehearsals to provide support or who are learning a new instrument.
Rehearsals are Tuesday Evenings at 6pm before the main band rehearsal. Please contact us for more details.
